System including an ion trap device arranged on a substrate

A system, comprising:

• an ion trap device;
• an application board;
• a base plate arranged on the application board and comprising one or more through-holes;
• a substrate comprising a first side and a second side, wherein the ion trap device is arranged on the first side of the substrate and the second side of the substrate is arranged on the base plate;
• electronic circuitry and/or electrical components arranged on the application board and configured to generate one or more signals for the ion trap device;
• and
• one or more conductive traces arranged on the application board and electrically coupled to the electronic circuitry and/or electrical components, wherein the one or more conductive traces are routed to the base plate,
• wherein an electrical connection is formed between the one or more conductive traces and the second side of the substrate via the one or more through-holes of the base plate.
