Abstract
A process and composition is described for the inclusion of polyether polyols in concentrations greater than 10% loading on the B-side formulation with a catalyst package less than 1% loading on the B-side formulation. In one specific example, the use of glycerin as a fluorine ion scavenger is utilized to improve performance of the polyurethane systems through a twelve-month shelf life.
Claims20
A two component low pressure polyurethane foam comprising:
- an A-side comprising:
- at least one diisocyanate, and
- an HFO propellant comprising 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene;
- and
- a B-side comprising:
- one or more polyols consisting essentially of all polyether polyols and essentially no polyester polyols;
- a fluoride ion scavenger;
- at least one catalyst added in an amount needed to meet the reactivity profile of the polyurethane foam;
- and
- an HFO propellant comprising 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene;
- and
- water in an amount of less than 1% by weight of the B-side prior to inclusion of the HFO propellant at the B-side.

A two component low pressure polyurethane foam comprising:
- an A-side comprising:
- at least one diisocyanate, and
- an HFO propellant having no more than four fluorine ions on a chain of the HFO propellant;
- and
- a B-side comprising:
- one or more polyols consisting essentially of all polyether polyols and essentially no polyester polyols;
- glycerin as a fluoride ion scavenger;
- at least one catalyst added in an amount needed to meet the reactivity profile of the polyurethane foam;
- and
- an HFO propellant having no more than four fluorine ions on a chain of the HFO propellant;
- and
