Abstract
A membrane electrode assembly includes an electrolyte layer, and a catalyst layer that includes particles carrying a catalyst metal and is positioned on a first surface of the electrolyte layer. The membrane electrode assembly includes a symbol containing therein encoded information required for manufacture of the membrane electrode assembly. The symbol is a discolored laser trace in the electrolyte layer and is disposed in an edge of the first surface where the catalyst layer is not positioned.
Claims16
A membrane electrode assembly, comprising:
- an electrolyte layer;
- and
- a catalyst layer that includes particles carrying a catalyst metal and is positioned on a first surface of the electrolyte layer,
- the membrane electrode assembly comprising a symbol containing therein encoded information required for manufacture of the membrane electrode assembly, and
- the symbol being a discolored laser trace in the electrolyte layer and being disposed in an edge of the first surface where the catalyst layer is not positioned.
A membrane electrode assembly, comprising:
- an electrolyte layer;
- and
- a catalyst layer that includes particles carrying a catalyst metal and is positioned on a first surface of the electrolyte layer,
- the membrane electrode assembly comprising:
- a gasket in contact with an edge of the first surface where the catalyst layer is not positioned;
- and
- a symbol containing therein encoded information required for manufacture of the membrane electrode assembly,
- the symbol being a discolored laser trace in the gasket.
A method for manufacturing a membrane electrode assembly, comprising the steps of:
- forming, on a first surface of an electrolyte layer, a catalyst layer including particles carrying a catalyst metal,
- forming a symbol containing therein encoded information required for manufacture of the membrane electrode assembly, in an edge of the first surface where the catalyst layer is not positioned, by applying laser light to the edge with a carbon dioxide laser.
A method for manufacturing a membrane electrode assembly, comprising the steps of:
- forming, on a first surface of an electrolyte layer, a catalyst layer including particles carrying a catalyst metal,
- forming a symbol containing therein encoded information required for manufacture of the membrane electrode assembly, in a gasket in contact with an edge of the first surface where the catalyst layer is not positioned, by applying laser light to the gasket.
