Abstract
This disclosure provides polymerizable resin compositions comprising a hydrophobic polyether-containing polymerizable polyurethane compound to impart improved stain resistance to polymeric materials formed from the polymerizable resin compositions. Further provided herein are methods of producing the compositions and using the same for the fabrication of dental devices, such as orthodontic appliances.

A polymerizable compound, comprising:
- a polyether-containing chain comprising interconnected first and second monomeric units, wherein the first monomeric unit is derived from a diisocyanate and the second monomeric unit is derived from a hydrophobic polyether diol, the hydrophobic polyether diol having five or more carbon atoms in the repeat unit;
- a first terminal unit comprising at least one first reactive functional group at a first end of the polyether-containing chain;
- and
- a second terminal unit comprising at least one second reactive functional group at a second end of the polyether-containing chain.

A curable composition, comprising:
- a reactive diluent, wherein the reactive diluent is a polymerizable compound having a molecular weight of 0.1 to 1.0 kDa;
- and
- a polymerizable compound comprising:
- a hydrophobic polyether-containing chain having a first end and a second end, the chain comprising interconnected first and second monomeric units with the first monomeric unit derived from a diisocyanate and the second monomeric unit derived from a hydrophobic polyether diol, the hydrophobic polyether diol having five or more carbon atoms in the repeat unit;
- a first terminal unit covalently bonded to the first end, the first terminal unit comprising at least one first reactive functional group;
- and
- a second terminal unit covalently bonded to the second end, the second terminal unit comprising at least one second reactive functional group.
