A method for calibration of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) traffic flow acceleration in a computer network, the method including: initializing a maximum congestion window parameter; determining at least one slow start threshold; monitoring the traffic flow within the network; and updating parameters based on the monitored traffic flows. A system for calibration of TCP traffic flow acceleration in a computer network, the system including: an initialization module configured to initialize a maximum congestion window parameter; an analysis module configured to determine at least one slow start threshold; and a monitoring module configured to monitor the traffic flow within the network; and update parameters based on the monitored traffic flows.
