Electric energy storage module with liquid detection

A method for detecting a liquid around an electrical energy storage module comprising multiple electrical energy storage cells arranged next to each other in a stacking direction, and a measurement circuit arranged on a substrate on a top side of the multiple electrical energy storage cells for connection to electrodes of the multiple electrical energy storage cells, the method comprising:

• providing the substrate with a portion that extends downwards on a side surface of the electrical energy storage module, the side surface extending away from the top surface, the portion of the substrate comprising at least two conducting surfaces electrically connected with the measurement circuit,
• detecting a variation in electrical resistance between the at least two conducting surfaces, and
• take action depending on the type of variation in the electrical resistance.

A computer-implemented method, comprising:

• detecting, by processing circuitry of a computer system, at least one variation in electrical resistance between at least two conducting surfaces of a substrate portion that extends downwards on a side surface of an electrical energy storage module comprising multiple electrical energy storage cells arranged next to each other in a stacking direction, the side surface extending away from a top surface of the stack of multiple electrical energy storage cells,
• evaluating, by the processing circuitry, at least one variation in electrical resistance in comparison to predetermined criteria, and
• providing control signals, by processing circuitry, to take action depending on the type of variation in the electrical resistance.

A computer system comprising processing circuitry configured to:

• detect at least one variation in electrical resistance between at least two conducting surfaces of a substrate portion of a measurement circuit that extends downwards on a side surface of an electrical energy storage module comprising multiple electrical energy storage cells arranged next to each other in a stacking direction, the side surface extending away from the top surface where the measurement circuit is connected to electrodes of the multiple electrical energy storage cells,
• evaluate at least one variation in electrical resistance in comparison to predetermined criteria, and
• provide control signals to electrical energy control systems to take an action depending on the type of variation in the electrical resistance.
