Abstract
The present invention relates to a composition comprising alkylamido betaines derived from Macaúba palm oil.

A composition comprising alkylamido betaines, wherein the alkylamido betaines are derived from Macaúba palm oil.
A composition comprising alkylamido betaines, obtainable by a process comprising the steps of:
- a) subjecting Macaúba palm oil or a fatty acid composition derived from Macaúba palm oil to a reaction with 3-dimethylaminopropyl amine yielding an intermediate;
- and
- b) subjecting the intermediate to a reaction with chloroacetic acid or sodium mono-chloroacetate yielding the alkylamido betaines.
