Soft tissue retention device, instrumentation and related methods

A system for securing soft tissue to a bone, comprising:

• at least one device for retaining soft tissue to a bone, comprising:
• a first member comprising a first head portion, a first shaft portion at an inner side of the first head portion, and a cannulated opening that extends through the first head portion and the first shaft portion;
• and
• a second member comprising a second head portion, a second shaft portion at an inner side of the second head portion configured to mate with the first shat portion, and a cannulated opening that extends through the second head portion and the second shaft portion, and
• wherein the first head portion comprises a row of teeth and a plurality of through holes that extend through the first head portion positioned between the first shaft portion and the row of teeth;
• and
• at least one instrument configured to facilitate implantation of the first member or the second member.

A method for securing soft tissue to a bone, comprising:

• forming a first aperture in a soft tissue;
• forming a second aperture in a bone;
• obtaining at least one device for retaining the soft tissue to the bone that comprises:
• a first member comprising a first head portion, a first shaft portion at an inner side of the first head portion, a cannulated opening that extends through the first head portion and the first shaft portion, and wherein the first head portion comprises a row of teeth and a plurality of holes positioned between the first shaft portion and the row of teeth;
• and
• a second member comprising a second head portion, a second shaft portion at an inner side of the second head portion, and a cannulated opening that extends through the second head portion and the second shaft portion;
• extending the first shaft portion of the first member of the at least one device through the first aperture in the soft tissue and into the second aperture in the bone;
• extending the second shaft portion of the second member of the at least one device into the second aperture in the bone;
• threadably coupling the first and second shaft portions together such that the inner side of the second head portion is compressed against the bone and the inner side of the first head portion is compressed against the soft tissue with teeth of the row of teeth in engagement with the soft tissue and the soft tissue extending at least partially in at least one hole of the plurality of holes.
