Abstract
A wall-mountable shelf includes an apron and a ledge. The apron has a rear surface configured to abut against a wall and a front surface opposite the rear surface, the front surface having at least one recess having a floor and an end wall that extends from the floor to the front surface. The ledge has a rear edge, an upper surface, and a lower surface. The ledge is positioned within the recess of the apron so that the rear edge of the ledge interfaces with the floor of the recess of the apron and a rear portion of at least one of the upper and lower surfaces of the ledge interfaces with the end wall of the recess. The apron and the ledge may be formed from a brittle material. The interfacing surfaces of the ledge and the apron may be adhesively bonded together.

A wall-mountable shelf comprising:
- an apron comprising a rear surface configured to abut against a wall and a front surface opposite the rear surface, the front surface comprising at least one recess having a floor that is recessed relative to the front surface and at least one end wall that extends from the floor to the front surface;
- at least one ledge comprising a rear edge, an upper surface, and a lower surface, the at least one ledge positioned within the at least one recess of the apron so that the rear edge of the at least one ledge interfaces with the floor of the at least one recess of the apron and a rear portion of at least one of the upper and lower surfaces of the at least one ledge interfaces with the at least one end wall of the at least one recess;
- and
- wherein interfacing surfaces of the at least one ledge and the apron are adhesively bonded together.
A wall-mountable shelf comprising:
- an apron comprising a rear surface configured to abut against a wall, a front surface opposite the rear surface, a lower edge, and an upper edge, the apron formed from a brittle material;
- a ledge configured to protrude from the wall and comprising an upper surface, a lower surface, a rear edge, and a front edge, the ledge formed from the brittle material;
- wherein the apron comprises a recess within which a rear-most portion of the ledge nests;
- and
- an epoxy adhesive coating located on exposed surfaces of the recess to adhesively bond the apron and the ledge to one another.
A wall-mountable shelf comprising:
- an apron comprising a first exposed surface lying in a first plane and a second exposed surface lying in a second plane that intersects the first plane;
- a ledge comprising a first exposed surface lying in a third plane and a second exposed surface lying in a fourth plane that intersects the third plane;
- an epoxy adhesive coating located on at least one of:
- (1) the first and second exposed surfaces of the apron;
- and (2) the first and second exposed surfaces of the ledge;
- and
- wherein the first and second exposed surfaces of the apron interface with the first and second exposed surfaces of the ledge, respectively, to couple the apron to the ledge.
