The present disclosure is directed to novel processes for producing resveratrol-type compounds (e.g., oxyresveratrol), salts thereof, hydrates thereof, and physical compositions thereof sans protecting group chemistry.

A method of preparing a compound of Formula I:
- or a salt thereof, the method comprising:
- contacting a compound of Formula I-3:
- or a salt thereof with aldehyde A1:
- under conditions suitable to form a compound of Formula I or a salt thereof;
- and
- wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each independently selected from the group consisting of:
- H, —OH, —OMe, and —OEt;
- wherein at least one of R1, R2, R3 and R4, is —OH;
- and
- wherein X is a halide.
