Abstract
An unattended approach can increase the reproducibility and safety of the treatment as the chance of over/under treating of a certain area is significantly decreased. On the other hand, unattended treatment of uneven or rugged areas can be challenging in terms of maintaining proper distance or contact with the treated tissue, mostly on areas which tend to differ from patient to patient (e.g. facial area). Delivering energy via a system of active elements embedded in a flexible pad adhesively attached to the skin offers a possible solution. The unattended approach may include delivering of multiple energies to enhance a visual appearance.

A device for a treatment of a patient, the device comprising:
- a main unit, comprising:
- a radiofrequency generator configured to generate radiofrequency energy with an output power in a range of 1 W to 200 W;
- an electric current generator configured to generate pulsed electric current having a repetition frequency in a range of 0.1 Hz to 12 kHz;
- and
- a control unit configured to control the radiofrequency generator and the electric current generator;
- and
- an applicator configured to be attached to a periorbital area of the patient, the applicator comprising:
- a pad having a convex-concave polygon structure with a surface area in a range of 1 cm2 to 50 cm2 and configured to be attached to the periorbital area, the pad comprising:
- a flexible substrate comprising an underside configured to face the patient during the treatment and a top side configured to face away the patient during the treatment;
- a first electrode coupled to the underside of the substrate and having a surface area in a range of 1 cm2 to 25 cm2 and configured to apply the radiofrequency energy to the periorbital area to cause heating of the periorbital area;
- a second electrode coupled to the underside of the substrate and having a surface area in a range of 1 cm2 to 25 cm2 and configured to apply the pulsed electric current to the periorbital area to cause electrotherapy of the periorbital area, and
- wherein a distance between the first electrode and the second electrode is in a range of 0.5 mm to 6 cm;
- and
- a conductive adhesive layer coupled to the underside of the flexible substrate and configured to attach the pad, the first electrode, and the second electrode to the periorbital area of the patient;
- wherein the applicator is configured to be fixed in a stationary position in contact with the periorbital area during the treatment, and
- wherein the control unit is configured to control the device to provide the heating and the electrotherapy during the treatment to cause anti-edematous effect of the periorbital area.
A device for a treatment of a patient, comprising:
- a main unit comprising:
- a radiofrequency generator configured to generate radiofrequency energy;
- an electric current generator configured to generate pulsed electric current;
- and
- a control unit configured to control the radiofrequency generator and the electric current generator;
