An apparatus for the treatment of a wound by applying negative pressure to the wound, the apparatus comprising:
- a first layer comprising a first side and a second, patient-facing side;
- a second layer disposed over the first side of the first layer, wherein the second layer comprises an aperture configured to fluidly communicate negative pressure applied to the wound, wherein the first layer and the second layer together form a sealed space with an interior;
- a third layer at least partially disposed between the first layer and the second layer, wherein the third layer separates the interior into a first chamber and a second chamber, wherein the third layer is fluid impermeable and fluidly separates the first chamber from the second chamber;
- a plurality of through holes in the third layer;
- a negative pressure source disposed in the first chamber;
- and
- an absorbent layer disposed in the first chamber or the second chamber.
