Abstract
Compositions comprising Methylobacterium with anti-fungal activity, methods for controlling plant pathogenic fungi, and methods of making the compositions are provided.
Claims56
A composition comprising a mono- or co-culture of Methylobacterium that inhibits growth of a plant pathogenic fungus and an agriculturally acceptable excipient and/or an agriculturally acceptable adjuvant, wherein:
- (i) the Methylobacterium has a 16S nucleic acid sequence having at least 97%, 98%, 99%, 99.5%, or 100% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 8;
- (ii) the Methylobacterium has a sequence of any one of SEQ ID NOS:
- 9-11;
- or,
- (iii) the Methylobacterium is NLS0109 or a derivative thereof.
An isolated Methylobacterium that inhibits growth of a plant pathogenic fungus, wherein the Methylobacterium has a 16S RNA having at least 97%, 98%, 99%, 99.5%, or 100% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:8 or has a sequence of any one of SEQ ID NOS:
- 9-11.
A method to detect the presence of Methylobacterium strain NL0109, NLS0020, NLS0017, or NLS0089 in a sample, wherein said method comprises detecting the presence in the sample of a nucleic acid comprising or located within SEQ ID NO:9-11, 21-24, 37-39 or 49-51.
