## Abstract

A method for an autonomous vehicle includes: controlling at least one system of the vehicle by a host system; automatically collecting, by a memory device, data generated by the at least one system, where the data is collected by the memory device independently of control by the host system; and storing the data in the memory device.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A device comprising:
non-volatile memory; and
a controller configured to, in response to detecting a predetermined event, download data from volatile memory to the non-volatile memory.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the downloaded data is run-time data.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the volatile memory provides system memory for the controller, and the data is downloaded from the system memory.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, further comprising a sensor, wherein the data is obtained from the sensor.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to send the data to a server, and update software in response to receiving a communication from the server.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The device of claim 5, wherein the server is configured to send the communication based on identifying that software is unsafe.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The device of claim 6, wherein the server is further configured to identify that the software is unsafe based on pattern recognition.

### Claim 8 (depends on 5)

The device of claim 5, wherein the updated software controls a navigation system of a vehicle.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The device of claim 8, wherein the updated software causes the vehicle to avoid unsafe functions.

### Claim 10

A system comprising:
memory configured to store an artificial neural network (ANN) model; and
a controller configured to:
use an output from the ANN model for controlling a vehicle; and
update the ANN model in response to detection of a failure of the vehicle.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The system of claim 10, wherein the ANN model is updated using training data stored in the memory.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The system of claim 11, further comprising a sensor, wherein the training data is generated using data from the sensor.

### Claim 13 (depends on 10)

The system of claim 10, wherein the controller is further configured to collect data from a sensor, and the detection of the failure is based on analyzing the data from the sensor.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The system of claim 13, wherein the sensor is a camera, and the data from the sensor includes image data.

### Claim 15 (depends on 10)

The system of claim 10, further comprising a communication interface, wherein the ANN model is updated using data received from a server via the communication interface.

### Claim 16 (depends on 10)

The system of claim 10, wherein the vehicle is configured to communicate with a server, and the server is configured to determine that the vehicle is operating improperly.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

The system of claim 16, wherein the server is configured to terminate an autonomous mode of the vehicle.

### Claim 18

An apparatus comprising:
a communication network; and
a server configured to:
receive, over the communication network from a vehicle, sensor data associated with detection of objects;
analyze the sensor data to determine a failure of the vehicle; and
in response to determining the failure, send a communication to control the vehicle.

### Claim 19 (depends on 18)

The apparatus of claim 18, wherein the sensor data is received in response to detection of a collision with an object.

### Claim 20 (depends on 18)

The apparatus of claim 18, wherein the server is further configured to select a type of the sensor data to receive.
