Abstract
Provided herein are mycelium materials and methods for production thereof. In some embodiments, a mycelium material includes one or more deformation areas spaced apart from each other. Additives and bonding agent may be combined with the mycelium material. Wet embossing methods of producing a mycelium material are also provided.

A mycelium material comprising mycelium fibers, the mycelium material being planar and having a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface, and a thickness, the first surface comprising one or more deformation areas spaced apart from each other, wherein the one or more deformation areas do not extend from the first surface to the second surface.
A mycelium material comprising mycelium fibers, the mycelium material being planar and having a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface, and a thickness, the mycelium material having a first region having a first density, and a second region having a deformation area extending from the first surface toward the second surface, wherein the second region has a second density that is higher than the first density.
A method of producing a mycelium material, the method comprising:
- providing mycelium fibers;
- adding a solution to the mycelium fibers to produce a mycelium composition;
- wet embossing the mycelium composition such that one or more deformation areas are formed;
- and
- drying the mycelium composition;
- thus producing the mycelium material.
