Abstract
A microfluidic device includes a microfluidic channel formed in the microfluidic device and defined by a floor and a ceiling positioned vertically above the floor, wherein the microfluidic channel includes at least one fluid inlet configured to receive a fluid flow and at least one fluid outlet, and wherein at least one of the ceiling and the floor of the microfluidic channel is sloped relative to a horizontal plane.
Claims20
A microfluidic device, comprising:
- a microfluidic channel formed in the microfluidic device and comprising:
- a chamber having an inlet opening, an outlet opening opposite the inlet opening, and a collection outlet located between the inlet opening and the outlet opening;
- at least one fluid inlet to supply the inlet opening of the chamber with an inlet fluid flow containing one or more air bubbles;
- at least one fluid outlet which receives an outlet fluid flow from the outlet opening of the chamber;
- a micropillar positioned in the chamber between the inlet opening and the outlet opening for obstructing passage of the one or more air bubbles whereby the one or more air bubbles are directed by the micropillar towards the collection opening of the chamber;
- and
- a collection chamber for receiving the one or more air bubbles from the collection opening of the chamber to form an air bubble trap of the microfluidic device.
