A monitoring device for an injection molding machine includes circuitry configured to acquire first data from a sensor provided in an injection molding machine, the first data indicating detection results in a time series; input the first data into a trained model and acquire a first value from the trained model, the first value representing an evaluation of a product, the trained model being trained by machine learning with training data, the training data combining second data and a second value, the second data indicating detection results from the sensor in a time series, and the second value representing an evaluation of the product produced by the injection molding machine; and determine whether an abnormality has occurred in the detection results of the sensor, based on the acquired first value by the inferring unit.
