Abstract
Air cleaner assemblies, components therefor, and features thereof are described. Also described are methods of assembly and use. In depicted examples, the air cleaner assemblies and components optionally use advantageous housing seal features. Methods of assembly and use are described.
Claims15
A filter assembly comprising:
- (a) a housing comprising gas flow inlet, a gas flow outlet, a first body section, and an access cover, and having a central axis extending through the access cover, the first body section, and the gas flow outlet, wherein:
- (i) the gas flow inlet is configured to gas flow directed tangentially against an inner wall of the first body section;
- (ii) the gas flow outlet includes a sealing member that extends into an interior of the first body portion along the central axis, and includes:
- (A) an inwardly directed radial seal surface comprising a first wavy wall having a plurality of inwardly projecting and axially extending portions projecting toward the central axis and a plurality of outwardly projecting and axially extending portions projecting away from the central axis;
- and
- (B) an outwardly directed radial seal surface comprising a second wavy wall having a plurality of outwardly projecting and axially extending portion projecting away from the central axis and a plurality of inwardly projecting and axially extending portions projecting toward the central axis;
- (C) the first wavy wall has a first pitch of 1 mm to 25 mm, wherein the first pitch is a distance between adjacent peaks of the first wavy wall;
- and
- (D) the second wavy wall has a second pitch of 1 mm to 25 mm, wherein the second pitch is a distance between adjacent peaks of the second wavy wall;
- and
- (b) a filter cartridge operably and removably positioned within the housing and sealed to the housing, the filter cartridge comprising:
- (i) filtration media comprising pleated media arranged around a central open volume, the filtration media extending from a filtration media first end to a filtration media second end;
- (ii) a liner for supporting the pleated media arranged around a central open volume, the liner extending from a liner first end to a liner second end;
- (iii) a first, open, end cap and a second, closed, end cap, wherein:
- (A) the filtration media first end and the liner first end extend into the first, open, end cap;
- (B) the filtration media second end and the liner second end extend into the second, closed, end cap;
- (C) the first, open, end cap comprises an opening through the first, open, end cap, wherein the central axis extends through the central open volume, the second end cap, and the opening in the first end cap;
- (D) the first, open, end cap includes a portion extending along at least a portion of the second wavy wall.

A filter assembly comprising:
- (a) a housing comprising gas flow inlet, a gas flow outlet, a first body section, and an access cover, and having a central axis extending through the access cover, the first body section, and the gas flow outlet, wherein:
- (i) the gas flow inlet is configured to gas flow directed tangentially against an inner wall of the first body section;
- (ii) the gas flow outlet includes a sealing member that extends into an interior of the first body portion along the central axis, wherein the sealing member includes:
- (A) an inwardly directed radial seal surface comprising a first wavy wall having a plurality of inwardly projecting and axially extending portions projecting toward the central axis and a plurality of outwardly projecting and axially extending portions projecting away from the central axis;
- and
- (B) an outwardly directed radial seal surface comprising a second wavy wall having a plurality of outwardly projecting and axially extending portion projecting away from the central axis and a plurality of inwardly projecting and axially extending portions projecting toward the central axis;
- and
- (b) a filter cartridge operably and removably positioned within the housing and sealed to the housing, the filter cartridge comprising:
- (i) filtration media comprising pleated media arranged around a central open volume, the filtration media extending from a filtration media first end to a filtration media second end;
- (ii) a liner for supporting the pleated media arranged around a central open volume, the liner extending from a liner first end to a liner second end;
- (iii) a first, open, end cap and a second, closed, end cap, wherein:
- (A) the filtration media first end and the liner first end extend into the first, open, end cap;
- (B) the filtration media second end and the liner second end extend into the second, closed, end cap;
- (C) the first, open, end cap comprises an opening through the first, open, end cap, wherein the central axis extends through the central open volume, the second end cap, and the opening in the first end cap;
- (D) the first, open, end cap includes a portion extending along at least a portion of the second wavy wall.
