Abstract
A heat transfer device for application of thermal therapy from a contact surface to internal structures of a human ear. One or more device may form an assembly in combination with a pair of auditory headphones to dispose an add-on contact surface for contact with desired portion(s) of a human head at a location spaced-apart from the conventional contact surface of an earpiece of the headphones. A heat transfer device is disposed between a surface of a wearer and the conventional contact surface of an earpiece when the assembly is installed on the wearer. A heat transfer device may be passive (pre-cooled), active (e.g., thermoelectrically active), or include elements of both.
Claims20
An apparatus, comprising:
- a cold pack assembly configured as an add-on element to an earpiece of a fully-assembled pair of auditory headphones of the type comprising a resilient headband coupled to the earpiece to bias a contact surface of the earpiece toward compressive engagement against a portion of a wearer of the headphones;
- and
- registration structure associated with the cold pack assembly and configured to removably interface the cold pack assembly in installed registration with the earpiece, and to dispose a heat transfer element of the cold pack assembly between the contact surface and the wearer such that at least a portion of the contact surface is spaced apart from the wearer.
