Abstract
A resistor includes an elongated cylindrical body having nodes and elongated members. The elongated members interconnect the nodes to form openings between the nodes and the elongated members for the flow therethrough of a cooling fluid. The body is configured to receive electric current from a powered system and to conduct and provide electric resistance to the electric current to dissipate at least part of the electric current as heat from the body. The body may be coupled with at least one other resistor of the powered system in one or more of a parallel or series arrangement in an electric circuit.
Claims20
A resistor, comprising:
- a monolithic and seamless elongated body that extends a length from a first terminal end of the elongated body to a second terminal end of the elongated body, the elongated body defining channels that define passages for a cooling fluid to flow through the elongated body, each channel extending the length of the elongated body from the first terminal end to the second terminal end and open at both the first and second terminal ends.
A resistor, comprising:
- a monolithic body, comprising:
- a first terminal end;
- and
- a second terminal end opposite the first terminal end, wherein a plurality of fluid channels are defined in the monolithic body from the first terminal end to the second terminal end, and wherein the plurality of fluid channels are open at the first terminal end and the second terminal end.
A system, comprising:
- a seamless body, comprising:
- a first terminal end;
- and
- a second terminal end opposite the first terminal end, wherein a plurality of fluid channels are defined in the seamless body from the first terminal end to the second terminal end, and wherein the plurality of fluid channels are open at the first terminal end and the second terminal end.
