Abstract
During an electronic call between two individuals, a sound localization point simulates a location in empty space from where an origin of a voice of one individual occurs for the other individual.

A method that executes an electronic call between a first person wearing a first head mounted display (HMD) and a second person wearing a second HMD, the method comprising:
- displaying, in a room where the first person is located and with the first HMD during the electronic call, an image that represents the first person and a virtual image that represents the second person;
- designating, with the first HMD during the electronic call, a virtual microphone point at the virtual image that represents the second person being displayed in the room where the first person is located;
- and
- increasing, during the electronic call, a loudness of a voice of the first person in binaural sound that plays with the second HMD to the second person in response to the first person moving closer to the virtual microphone point at the virtual image that represents the second person being displayed in the room where the first person is located.

A method for an electronic call between a first person and a second person, the method comprising:
- displaying, during the electronic call with a head mounted display (HMD) worn on a head of the first person, an image representing the first person and an image representing the second person;
- designating a location of the image representing the second person as a virtual microphone point;
- and
- increasing, during the electronic call, a loudness of a voice of the first person being played in binaural sound to the second person in response to the image representing the first person moving closer to the virtual microphone point located at the image representing the second person.

An electronic system that provides an electronic call between a first person and a second person, the electronic system comprising:
- a first head mounted display (HMD) worn on a head of the first person and including a display that displays, during the electronic call, an image representing the first person and an image representing the second person and one or more processors that designate a virtual microphone point at the image representing the second person;
- and
- a second HMD worn on a head of the second person and including speakers that increase, during the electronic call, a voice of the first person that plays to the second person in response to the first person wearing the first HMD moving closer to the virtual microphone point located at the image representing the second person being displayed with the first HMD.
