• R2 denotes a CH═O group or a CH2OH group, and
• R3 and R4, independently of one another, denote a C1-C4 alkyl group.

• A method of using a compound of formula (I)
• or a compound of formula (II)
• wherein, for each of the compound of formula (I) and the compound of formula (II),
• R1 and R2 each denote a CH2OH group or a CH═O group, and
• R3 and R4, independently of one another, denote a C1-C4 alkyl group,
• as a perfume,
• the method comprising:
• providing the compound of formula (I) or the compound of formula (II);
• and
• using the compound of formula (I) or the compound of formula (II) as a perfume.
