Abstract
Methods and devices for wired charging and communication with a wearable device are described. In one embodiment, a symmetrical contact interface comprises a first contact pad and a second contact pad, and particular wired circuitry is coupled to the first and second contact pads to enable charging as well as receive and transmit communications via the contact pads as part of various device states.

A first device comprising:
- a first electrical pad and a second electrical pad;
- and
- circuitry coupled to the first electrical pad and the second electrical pad, wherein the circuitry is configured to:
- provide, via the first electrical pad or the second electrical pad, an electrical charge to a second device to charge a battery of the second device;
- cause a transition signal to be sent via the first electrical pad or the second electrical pad to the second device, or receive a transition signal from the first electrical pad or the second electrical pad;
- and
- transmit data via the first electrical pad or the second electrical pad or receive data from the second device.
