A method for producing a solid catalyst component for polymerization of an olefin by allowing dialkoxy magnesium, a titanium halogen compound and a succinic acid diester compound to mutually contact,

• wherein the titanium halogen compound is allowed to contact the dialkoxy magnesium multiple times, of which when the titanium halogen halogen compound is allowed to contact the dialkoxy magnesium for the first time, 1.5 to 10.0 mol of the titanium halogen compound per mol of the dialkoxy magnesium is used,
• wherein a total amount of the titanium compound used per mol of the dialkoxy magnesium is 5.0 to 18.0 mol, and
• an amount of the succinic acid diester compound used per mol of the dialkoxy magnesium is 0.10 to 0.20 mol.

A polymer of an olefin having:

• (a) a melt flow rate of 0.5 g/10 min to 200.0 g/10 min, and
• (b) a flexural modulus of 2,000 MPa or more.
