Abstract
The present invention relates to an inorganic pigment with the function of a catalyst that can be activated by light from the entire visible spectrum but also in the absence of light, to a process for obtaining it, to various formulations containing this inorganic pigment and its use. The present invention also provides a method of destroying pathogens represented by irradiating with electromagnetic radiation from the entire visible spectrum (400 nm-700 nm) the surfaces on which they have been applied-formulations containing the inorganic pigment. Additionally, the invention provides the use of the pigment disclosed herein for its catalytic, bactericidal and virucidal activity in the absence of light.
Claims1
An inorganic pigment with the function of a light-activated catalyst but also in the absence of light comprising:
- a first layer composed of a semiconductor metal oxide selected from TiO2, rutile or anatase, preferably rutile, with high dielectric constant characterized by a relative permittivity εr in the range 60-100, for industrial use with a size in the range 220 nm up to at 4 μm, preferably in the range of 220 nm to 40 μm,
- a second layer called a two-dimensional pseudo-perovskite layer which consists of inorganic ferroelectric structures of the perovskite or pseudo-perovskite type of the ABO3 or A2B2O6 form, and
- a third layer consisting of nanometric metal clusters that are deposited on the structure of the second layer.
