Abstract
To determine a location of a user, a computing device transmits an audio signal via a speaker and receives a reflected audio signal via a microphone. The computing device obtains sensor data from at least one of: one or more positioning sensors, one or more accelerometers, one or more gyroscopes, or one or more inertial measurement units, and determines a location of a user based on (i) a round trip time of the audio signal and the reflected audio signal, and (ii) the sensor data.
Claims20
A method in a computing device for determining a location of a user, the method comprising:
- transmitting, by one or more processors via a speaker, an audio signal;
- receiving, at the one or more processors via a microphone, a reflected audio signal;
- obtaining, at the one or more processors, sensor data from at least one of:
- a positioning sensor, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, or an inertial measurement unit (IMU);
- and
- determining, at the one or more processors, a location of a user based on (i) a round trip time of the audio signal and the reflected audio signal, and (ii) the sensor data.
A computing device for determining a location of a user comprising:
- a speaker;
- a microphone;
- at least one of:
- (i) a positioning sensor, (ii) an accelerometer, (iii) a gyroscope, or (iv) an inertial measurement unit (IMU),
- one or more processors;
- and
- a computer-readable memory storing instructions thereon that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing device to:
- transmit, via the speaker, an audio signal;
- receive, via the microphone, a reflected audio signal;
- obtain sensor data from the at least one of:
- the positioning sensor, the accelerometer, the gyroscope, or the IMU;
- and
- determine a location of a user based on the sensor data and a round trip time of the audio signal and the reflected audio signal.
A computer-readable memory in a computing device storing instructions thereon that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
- transmit, via a speaker, an audio signal;
- receive, via a microphone, a reflected audio signal;
- obtain sensor data from a at least one of:
- a positioning sensor, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, or an inertial measurement unit (IMU);
- and
- determine a location of a user based on the sensor data and a round trip time of the audio signal and the reflected audio signal.
