Abstract
A tubular irrigation device, such as a pipe or sleeve, having a circular multilayer polymeric structure including one or more layers of woven polymeric thermoplastic materials, one or more layers of thermoplastic polymeric materials, and one or more layers of polymeric waterproofing materials in film form. Methods of making the tubular irrigation device are also described.
Claims16
A process for making a tubular irrigation device, the process comprising:
- forming an inner layer by extruding a multilayer circular thermoplastic film comprising a multilayer polymeric thermoplastic film having one or more waterproof layers selected from a polypropylene or polyethylene film, and at least one adhesive layer comprising one or more layers of a thermoplastic polymeric material selected from a multilayer extruded film of polyethylene and EVA resin, an extruded copolymer blend of polyethylene and polypropylene, and an extruded polyethylene polymer blend;
- inserting a multilayer circular thermoplastic film into an outer layer which comprise a circular woven polymeric thermoplastic material selected from polypropylene and polyethylene extruded tapes;
- and
- applying heat to bond the multilayer circular thermoplastic film of the inner layer to the circular woven polymeric thermoplastic material of the outer layer.
