Abstract
A device and a method temporarily decrease the blowing width of a glass convection cooler based on the width of the glass to be cooled. In the convection cooler, glass is cooled by air jets. The primary purpose of decreasing the blowing width is to decrease the energy consumption of the convection cooler. In the device, the blowing width of several blowing boxes that are consecutive in the direction of the width of the glass is closed by the closing plates attached to the same shaft by changing their position by rotating the shaft passing through the consecutive blowing boxes. Blowing length can be closed, when a glass sheet to be cooled fits to the narrowed blowing width.
Claims12
A device for decreasing the blowing width of a glass convection cooler, wherein the convection cooler comprises, on both sides of a glass load to be cooled, a plurality of blowing boxes, including blowing boxes which are consecutive in a direction of movement of the glass, the device comprising:
- the consecutive blowing boxes, each of which has a starting end from which air is fed into the blowing box and an ending end at an opposite end of the blowing box relative to the starting end, and each of which has blowing apertures from which air is configured to be discharged towards the glass load to be cooled;
- a plurality of closing plates disposed in the consecutive blowing boxes, the closing plates being attached to a same shaft, the shaft passing through the consecutive blowing boxes and being supported by the consecutive blowing boxes;
- and
- an actuator configured to rotate the shaft such that the closing plates reduce or prevent air from flowing into the end portion of the blowing boxes.
A method for temporarily decreasing the blowing width of a glass convection cooler based on the width of a glass load to be cooled, wherein in the convection cooler comprises, on both sides of the glass load, blowing boxes that are consecutive in a direction of movement of the glass, from blowing apertures of which air is discharged towards the glass load to be cooled, the method comprising:
- closing a blowing width of several consecutive blowing boxes by closing plates attached to a same shaft by changing their position by rotating the shaft passing through the consecutive blowing boxes.
