## Abstract

The invention relates to a carrier device for pre-mounting and holding a sensor assembly and for insertion into a shaft of a medical imaging device, the carrier device having as a respective side a distal side, a proximal side, a top side, a bottom side and two opposing sides, the sensor assembly being assignable to the carrier device and having at least one sensor and the sensor being mountable on the distal side of the carrier device, the carrier device having a continuous cavity from the proximal side to the distal side, so that, when the sensor is pre-mounted on the distal side of the carrier device, the sensor can be aligned from the inside into a predetermined position by means of an alignment tool which can be inserted into the cavity. Furthermore, the invention relates to a medical imaging device and a method for pre-assembling a sensor assembly.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A carrier device for pre-mounting and holding a sensor assembly and for insertion into a shaft of a medical imaging device, the carrier device comprising a distal side, a proximal side, a top side, a bottom side, and two opposing sides, wherein the sensor assembly is associated with the carrier device, the sensor assembly comprising at least one sensor, a bottom side and two opposing sides, wherein the sensor is configured to be mounted on the distal side of the carrier device, and wherein the carrier device has a continuous cavity from the proximal side to the distal side, and is configured such that when the sensor is preassembled on the distal side of the carrier device, the sensor can be aligned from the inside of the carrier device into a predetermined position by means of an alignment tool which can be inserted into the cavity.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The carrier device of claim 1, wherein the sensor assembly and/or the carrier device comprises the sensor, an objective mount, an objective, or a circuit board for electronic components.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The carrier device of claim 2, wherein the circuit board is arranged on the top side or the bottom side of the carrier device.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The carrier device of claim 2, wherein the carrier device further comprises at least one heat transfer element or is itself configured as a heat transfer element.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The carrier device of claim 4, wherein the at least one heat transfer element is positioned at least partially in the cavity and is configured such that an operating heat of the sensor is dissipated in a proximal direction.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The carrier device of claim 1, wherein the carrier device further comprises at least one recess in at least one side for receiving an adhesive, such that the sensor assembly can be pre-mounted on the carrier device outside the shaft and then be inserted into the cavity of the shaft and be adhesively bonded thereto.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The carrier device of claim 6, wherein the carrier device comprises a plurality of said recesses.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The carrier device of claim 7, wherein a number of the plurality of recesses are arranged on the opposite sides to a respective opposing number of recesses.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The carrier device of claim 7, further comprising a rib arranged between two recesses on a given side, and wherein an inner surface of the shaft is contactable by means of an outer surface of the rib.

### Claim 10 (depends on 8)

The carrier device of claim 8, further comprising a rib arranged between two recesses on a given side, and wherein an inner surface of the shaft is contactable by means of an outer surface of the rib.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The medical imaging device of claim 1, wherein the sensor is an image sensor.

### Claim 12

A medical imaging device, comprising a handpiece, an elongated shaft, a light source positioned at a distal end section of the shaft for illuminating a viewing area, wherein the elongated shaft comprises a cavity, an electrical conductor and/or a working channel, and wherein the medical imaging device further comprises a carrier device for pre-mounting and holding a sensor assembly and for insertion into the cavity of the shaft, the carrier device comprising a distal side, a proximal side, a top side, a bottom side, and two opposing sides, wherein the sensor assembly is associated with the carrier device, the sensor assembly comprising at least one sensor, a bottom side and two opposing sides, wherein the sensor is configured to be mounted on the distal side of the carrier device, and wherein the carrier device has a continuous cavity from the proximal side to the distal side, and is configured such that when the sensor is preassembled on the distal side of the carrier device, the sensor can be aligned from the inside of the carrier device into a predetermined position by means of an alignment tool which can be inserted into the cavity.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The medical imaging device of claim 12, wherein the sensor is an image sensor.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The medical imaging device of claim 12, wherein the medical imaging device is a video endoscope.
