Abstract
A method of producing reaction bonded silicon carbide (RB-SiC) ceramic components containing internal channels is described. In some embodiments, methods as described herein may utilize diamond powder at the interface of two or more preformed sections.
Claims20
A method of making reaction bonded silicon carbide (RB-SiC) ceramic components having one or more internal channels comprising:
- producing SiC+carbon preform pieces with surface channels;
- placing diamond powder on bonding surface of said preform pieces;
- assembling said preform pieces;
- and
- reaction bonding said preform pieces to yield said ceramic components having internal channels, where the reaction bonding results in a bond line between said preform pieces.
