Abstract
The application concerns methods for improving a plant growth feature, such as biomass, height, yield, and/or emergence, of plants using certain fungi or agricultural active compositions comprising the fungi. Plants and plant parts treated with or heterologously disposed with said fungi or compositions are also disclosed. Further, novel fungal strains, and populations and agricultural active compositions comprising the same are provided.
Claims21
A method of administering a fungal strain or a functional homologue thereof to a plant, the method comprising;
- administering the fungal strain or functional homologue thereof to the plant, a part thereof, a seed for growing the plant, or the location of the plant;
- wherein the fungal strain comprises a nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) polynucleotide having at least 97.4% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- and
- wherein the functional homologue of the fungal strain comprises an ITS polynucleotide having at least 98% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 1 and a genome having at least 98% identity over the entirety of the genome to the genome of the strain as deposited under the Budapest Treaty with the Belgian Coordinated Collections of Microorganisms/MUCL Agro-industrial fungi, yeasts, and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi collection under Accession No. MUCL58178.
The method according to claim 18, wherein the plant growth feature comprises biomass, height, yield, emergence, or any combination thereof.
The method according to claim 19, wherein the agricultural active composition:
- antioxidant, a preservative, an aroma, a colorant, or a combination thereof;
- is a liquid composition, an aqueous composition, a sprayable liquid or a concentrate, a non-liquid composition, or a powder;
- and/or
- comprises the fungal strain or functional homologue thereof at an amount of at least about 102 CFU/g.

A composition comprising a plant seed and at least 10 CFU of a fungal strain or a functional homologue thereof;
- wherein the fungal strain comprises a nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) polynucleotide having at least 97.4% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- and
- wherein the functional homologue of the fungal strain comprises an ITS polynucleotide having at least 98% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 1 and a genome having at least 98% identity over the entirety of the genome to the genome of the strain as deposited under the Budapest Treaty with the Belgian Coordinated Collections of Microorganisms/MUCL Agro-industrial fungi, yeasts, and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi collection under Accession No. MUCL58178.
An agricultural active composition comprising:
- a fungal strain or a functional homologue thereof;
- wherein the fungal strain comprises a nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) polynucleotide having at least 97.4% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- and
- wherein the functional homologue of the fungal strain comprises an ITS polynucleotide having at least 98% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 1 and a genome having at least 98% identity over the entirety of the genome to the genome of the strain as deposited under the Budapest Treaty with the Belgian Coordinated Collections of Microorganisms/MUCL Agro-industrial fungi, yeasts, and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi collection under Accession No. MUCL58178;
- and
- wherein the composition:
- comprises one or more agriculturally acceptable auxiliaries, a solvent, a carrier, a surfactant, a sticker, an antifreeze agent, a thickener, a buffering agent, an antifoaming agent, an antioxidant, a preservative, an aroma, a colorant, or a combination thereof;
- is a liquid composition, an aqueous composition, a sprayable liquid or a concentrate, a non-liquid composition, or a powder;
- and/or
- comprises fungal strain or a functional homologue thereof at an amount of at least about 102 CFU/g.
