Abstract
A user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication network determines that a radio link failure (RLF) has previously occurred within a threshold distance from a current location of the UE. Responsive to determining that the RLF has previously occurred, the UE determines an expected beam to be encountered and that is associated with the RLF. The UE generates a first beam measurement report for the expected beam. The beam measurement report includes an adjusted power measurement for the expected beam indicating that the expected beam is an optimal beam compared to at least one neighboring beam. The UE transmits the first beam measurement report to the cellular network.
Claims24
A method by a user equipment (UE) in a cellular network, comprising:
- determining that a radio link failure (RLF) has previously occurred within a threshold distance from a current location of the UE;
- responsive to determining that the RLF has previously occurred, determining an expected beam to be encountered by the UE and associated with the RLF;
- generating a first beam measurement report for the expected beam, the first beam measurement report including an adjusted power measurement for the expected beam;
- and
- transmitting the first beam measurement report to the cellular network.

A user equipment (UE) comprising:
- an array of one or more antenna modules;
- one or more modems coupled to the array;
- one or more processors coupled to the one or more modems;
- and
- one or more memories coupled to the one or more processors, the one or more memories storing instructions that, when executed, are configured to cause one or both of the one or more processors or the one or more modems to:
- determine that a radio link failure (RLF) has previously occurred within a threshold distance from a current location of the UE;
- responsive to determining that the RLF has previously occurred, determine an expected beam to be encountered by the UE and associated with the RLF;
- generate a first beam measurement report for the expected beam, the first beam measurement report including an adjusted power measurement for the expected beam;
- and
- provide the first beam measurement report for transmission to a cellular network via the array of one or more antenna modules.
