Abstract
Techniques are disclosed for managing uplink data transmission associated with user equipment during authentication/authorization of the user equipment when establishing a data network connection through a communication network.

An apparatus comprising:
- at least one processor;
- at least one memory including computer program code;
- the at least one memory and the computer program code being configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to:
- cause initiation of establishment of a connection with a data network through a communication network;
- receive a first notification from the communication network that uplink data transfer to the data network is not allowed;
- and
- receive a second notification from the communication network that uplink data transfer to the data network is allowed, wherein the second notification corresponds to successful verification of the apparatus by an authenticating entity.
