• one or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the provider edge device to perform operations comprising:
• maintaining information about a set of local customer edge devices in communication with the provider edge device:
• receiving a frame to be received by multiple customer edge devices:
• determining, based on information included in the frame, if a device at which the frame originated is a root device:
• upon determining that the device at which the frame originated is not a root device, identifying a subset of the set of local customer edge devices associated with a root status;
• and
• providing the frame to the subset of the set of local customer edge devices.

One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

• maintaining information about a set of local customer edge devices:
• receiving a frame to be received by multiple customer edge devices:
• determining, based on information included in the frame, if a device at which the frame originated is a root device:
• upon determining that the device at which the frame originated is not a root device, identifying a subset of the set of local customer edge devices associated with a root status;
• and
• providing the frame to the subset of the set of local customer edge devices.
