Multi-format data objects in memory

A method for a multi-format data object in memory, the method comprising:

• receiving, at an interface of a memory device, an allocation request for a data object, the data object including a set of data elements, the allocation request including respective details for a set of formats for the data object;
• allocating, by circuitry of the memory device, a space in memory of the memory device for a first version of the data object in a first format based on details of the first format in the allocation request;
• storing a mapping from the details of the first format in a mapping data structure corresponding to the data object;
• storing an identification of a conversion function from the details of the first format in a conversion data structure corresponding to the data object;
• and
• providing access to a second format of the data object from the first format of the data object in the memory based on the mapping data structure or the conversion data structure.

A machine readable medium including instructions to implement a multi-format data object in memory, the instructions, when executed by processing circuitry of a device, cause the device to perform operations comprising:

• receiving, at an interface of a memory device, an allocation request for a data object, the data object including a set of data elements, the allocation request including respective details for a set of formats for the data object;
• allocating, by circuitry of the memory device, a space in memory of the memory device for a first version of the data object in a first format based on details of the first format in the allocation request;
• storing a mapping from the details of the first format in a mapping data structure corresponding to the data object;
• storing an identification of a conversion function from the details of the first format in a conversion data structure corresponding to the data object;
• and
• providing access to a second format of the data object from the first format of the data object in the memory based on the mapping data structure or the conversion data structure.
