Abstract
A sealing system for electronic equipment that forms a liquid-tight seal between first and second enclosure components, which is independent of a fastening force applied to the second enclosure component in a direction towards the first enclosure component.
Claims19
A system for creating a sealed enclosure for electronic equipment, comprising:
- a first enclosure component, which has an opening defining an outer peripheral surface, which faces outwards relative to a longitudinal axis through the opening;
- a flexible ring-shaped gasket, the gasket comprising a gasket body in contact with the outer peripheral surface and at least one sealing protrusion extending outwards from the gasket body along its perimeter;
- and
- a second enclosure component defining a ring-shaped inner peripheral surface, which is arranged around the outer peripheral surface and faces inwards towards the outer peripheral surface;
- wherein the outer and inner peripheral surfaces extend along the longitudinal axis, and the inner peripheral surface of the second enclosure component is in contact with the at least one sealing protrusion along its perimeter, to form a liquid-tight seal between the first and the second enclosure component.
A system for creating a sealed enclosure for electronic equipment, comprising:
- a first enclosure component, which has an opening defining an outer peripheral surface, which faces away from a longitudinal axis through the opening;
- a second enclosure component defining an inner peripheral surface, which is arranged around the outer peripheral surface and faces inwards towards the outer peripheral surface;
- and
- a flexible ring-shaped gasket, the gasket comprising a gasket body in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the second enclosure component and a sealing protrusion extending inwards from the gasket body along its perimeter, in contact with the outer peripheral surface of the first enclosure component;
- wherein the outer and inner peripheral surfaces extend along the longitudinal axis, and the outer peripheral surface of the first enclosure component is in contact with the sealing protrusion along its perimeter, to form a liquid-tight seal between the first and the second enclosure component.
A method for forming a liquid-tight seal in an enclosure system for electronic equipment, the method comprising the steps of:
- providing a first enclosure component having an opening defining an outer peripheral surface facing away from a longitudinal axis through the opening;
- providing a flexible ring-shaped gasket, the gasket comprising a gasket body in contact with the outer peripheral surface and a sealing protrusion extending outwards from the gasket body along its perimeter;
- providing a second enclosure component, the second enclosure component having an opening defining an inner peripheral surface facing towards the outer peripheral surface;
- moving the second enclosure component towards the first enclosure component along the longitudinal axis, wherein the inner peripheral surface is displaced along the outer peripheral surface, such that the inner peripheral surface of the second enclosure component comes into contact with the sealing protrusion along its perimeter and the sealing protrusion is compressed to form a liquid-tight seal between the first and second enclosure components.
A method for forming a liquid-tight seal in an enclosure system for electronic equipment, the method comprising the steps of:
- providing a first enclosure component having an opening defining an outer peripheral surface facing away from a longitudinal axis through the opening;
- providing a second enclosure component defining an inner peripheral surface arranged facing towards the outer peripheral surface;
- providing a flexible ring-shaped gasket, the gasket comprising a gasket body in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the second enclosure component and a sealing protrusion extending inwards from the gasket body along its perimeter;
- moving the second enclosure component towards the first enclosure component along the longitudinal axis, wherein the outer peripheral surface of the first enclosure component is displaced along the inner peripheral surface, such that the outer peripheral surface of the first enclosure component comes into contact with the sealing protrusion along its perimeter, wherein the sealing protrusion is compressed to form a liquid-tight seal between the first and second enclosure components.
