A microfluidic device, comprising a first microfluidic channel, a second microfluidic channel and a porous membrane, wherein at least a section of said first and second microfluidic channels is separated by said porous membrane, wherein said porous membrane comprises trapping structures at predefined positions configured to immobilize biological material.
