A composition comprising MSCs wherein said MSCs express CD146 receptors in an amount of at least 10 pg/106 cells.

A method of treating a patient for a condition selected from the group consisting of osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease and an autoimmune disease by inhibiting immune responses in said patent, said method comprising administering to said patient a composition comprising mesenchymal stem cells, wherein said mesenchymal stem cells express CD146 receptors in an amount of at least 10 pg/106 cells.
