Abstract
This disclosure relates generally to acrogel technology. The disclosure relates more particularly, in various embodiments, to improved methods for producing acrogels and improved acrogel composites having a low compression set.
Claims20
A silica aerogel comprising a porous silica framework, wherein the silica aerogel has a compressibility set of less than or equal to 15% as determined by ASTM D3574-Test D.
An insulation barrier for use in an electrical storage system, the insulation barrier comprising:
- at least one insulation layer including a silica aerogel including a porous silica framework,
- wherein the silica aerogel has a compressibility set of less than or equal to 15% as determined by ASTM D3574-Test D.
A battery module comprising:
- a plurality of battery cells, and
- one or more insulation barriers comprising a silica aerogel including a porous silica framework,
- wherein the silica aerogel has a compressibility set of less than or equal to 15% as determined by ASTM D3574-Test D,
- wherein at least one insulation barrier is disposed between adjacent battery cells.
