Abstract
A mobility system for an imaging system is disclosed. The imaging system is operable to acquire and/or generate image data at positions relative to a subject. The imaging system includes a drive system configured to move the imaging system.

A system to acquire image data of a subject, comprising:
- an imaging assembly comprising a detector and a gantry;
- a cart having a support structure configured to support at least the gantry away from a surface;
- and
- a multi-directional wheel assembly rotatably mounted relative to the cart;
- wherein the multi-directional wheel assembly comprises a roller assembly having an axle and a tapered bearing.

A method for providing a mobility system for an imaging system, the method comprising:
- providing an imaging assembly comprising a detector and a gantry;
- providing a cart having a support structure a configured to support at least the gantry away from a surface;
- and
- providing a multi-directional wheel assembly rotatably mounted relative to the cart;
- providing the multi-directional wheel assembly with a roller assembly having an axle and a tapered bearing.
