Dynamic memory management system

A memory controller configured to:

• create segment pointers that identify physical memory devices and slices for associated segments;
• identify a failure in one of the physical memory devices;
• search the segment pointers to identify at least one segment that includes a slice in the failed one of the physical memory devices;
• select a new slice in one of the physical memory devices;
• re-create the slice for the failed one of the physical memory devices from other slices in the identified at least one segment;
• store the re-created slice in a new one of the physical memory devices;
• and
• update the segment pointer for the identified segment with the re-created slice in the new one of the physical memory devices.

A non-transitory storage medium (NTSM) comprising a set of instructions, wherein execution of the set of instructions by a hardware processor, is to cause the hardware processor to:

• create segment pointers that identify physical memory devices and slices for associated segments;
• identify a failure in one of the physical memory devices;
• search the segment pointers to identify at least one segment that includes a slice in the failed one of the physical memory devices;
• select a new slice in one of the physical memory devices;
• re-create the slice for the failed one of the physical memory devices from other slices in the identified at least one segment;
• store the re-created slice in a new one of the physical memory devices;
• and
• update the segment pointer for the identified segment with the re-created slice in the new one of the physical memory devices.
