Signal locking

An apparatus, comprising:

• a plurality of memory dice;
• and
• a memory device interface to transfer communication between a host couplable to the memory device interface and the plurality of memory dice, wherein the memory device interface comprises a controller configured to:
• identify a first operation command to lock a chip enable signal;
• lock the chip enable signal to prevent signals associated with a chip enable pin from being transferred to the plurality of memory dice;
• receive a set of commands via the chip enable pin;
• identify a second operation command to unlock the chip enable pin;
• and
• unlock the chip enable signal to allow signals associated with the chip enable pin to be transferred to the plurality of memory dice.

A system comprising:

• a memory sub-system comprising a non-volatile memory device;
• and
• a host couplable to the memory sub-system by a memory device interface, the memory device interface comprising a processing device configured to:
• identify a reserved operation command from the host, wherein the reserved operation command is ignored by the non-volatile memory device;
• receive a first de-assert signal from the host to lock a chip enable signal to prevent signals associated with a chip enable pin from being transferred to the non-volatile memory device;
• receive a set of commands from the host from the chip enable pin;
• identify a second de-assert signal from the host to unlock the chip enable signal;
• unlock the chip enable signal to allow signals associated with the chip enable pin to be transferred to the non-volatile memory device;
• and
• reconfigure the memory device interface based on the set of commands.
