Image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus comprising:

• an apparatus body configured to accommodate an image forming portion configured to form an image on a sheet, the apparatus body including a side surface in a first direction having an opening;
• a sheet storage portion configured to store a sheet to be fed to the image forming portion, the sheet storage portion being configured to be attached to a lower portion of the apparatus body toward the first direction and drawn from the apparatus body toward a second direction opposite to the first direction;
• an upper unit disposed on a top portion of the apparatus body, the upper unit being configured to pivot around an axis that intersects the first direction and move between a closed position and an open position, the closed position being a position in which a bottom surface of the upper unit faces a top surface of the apparatus body, the open position being a position above the closed position;
• and
• a cover member configured to move between a first position and a second position, the first position being a position in which the cover member covers at least a part of the opening, the second position being a position retracted from the opening toward the first direction such that the cover member allows a part of the sheet storage portion to protrude from the side surface of the apparatus body through the opening in the first direction,
• wherein an edge portion of the cover member in the first direction in a case where the cover member is located in the second position is positioned in the second direction relative to a most protruding position to which an edge portion of the upper unit in the first direction protrudes to a maximum extent in the first direction in a period of time in which the upper unit moves from the closed position to the open position.
