Abstract
A method and apparatus for securing a flexible pipe to a further flexible pipe in an end-to-end configuration, wherein the apparatus includes and the method utilizes an elongate tubular element having a first and second end and an outer surface comprising a raised central region. At least one vent passage extends at least partially across the raised central region.
Claims20
A pipeline system comprising a pipe connector, wherein the pipe connector comprises:
- a connector body that defines a connector bore and has a raised central portion;
- a first jacket secured to the raised central portion of the connector body such that the first jacket extends axially and circumferentially around a first side portion of the connector body to define a first connector annular region, wherein:
- the first connector annular region is configured to be fluidly coupled to a first pipe annular region that is defined in a first pipe disposed within the first connector annular region;
- and
- the first jacket is configured to be swaged around the first pipe such that the first jacket is plastically and conformally deformed around the first pipe;
- and
- a second jacket secured to the raised central portion of the connector body such that the second jacket extends axially and circumferentially around a second side portion of the connector body to define a second connector annular region, wherein:
- the second connector annular region is configured to be fluidly coupled to a second pipe annular region that is defined in a second pipe disposed within the second connector annular region;
- and
- the second jacket is configured to be swaged around the second pipe such that the second jacket is plastically and conformally deformed around the second pipe.
7 more elements
A method of manufacturing a pipe connector, comprising:
- forming a connector body to define a connector bore such that:
- a first side portion of the connector body is to be inserted into a first pipe bore of a first pipe;
- and
- a second side portion of the connector body is to be inserted into a second pipe bore of a second pipe;
- securing a first jacket to a central portion of the connector body to define a first connector annular region that accommodates the first pipe, wherein the first jacket is to be plastically and conformally deformed around the first pipe;
- and
- securing a second jacket to the central portion of the connector body to define a second connector annular region that accommodates the second pipe, wherein the second jacket is to be plastically and conformally deformed around the second pipe.
4 more elements
A pipe connector, comprising:
- a connector body that defines a connector bore, wherein:
- a first side portion of the connector body is configured to be disposed within a first pipe bore of a first pipe;
- and
- a second side portion of the connector body is configured to be disposed within a second pipe bore of a second pipe;
- a first jacket secured to a central portion of the connector body to define a first connector annular region that is configured to accommodate the first pipe, wherein the first jacket is configured to be plastically and conformally deformed around the first pipe;
- and
- a second jacket secure to the central portion of the connector body to define a second connector annular region that is configured to accommodate the second pipe, wherein the second jacket is configured to be plastically and conformally deformed around the second pipe.
