Abstract
The invention relates to a method of manufacturing an artificial turf (600) and the artificial turf obtained by this method, the method comprising: incorporating an artificial turf fiber on a carrier (104); adding a polyurethane reaction mixture on the back side of the carrier (106); and hardening polyurethane reaction mixture to form a polyurethane backing, characterized in that pyrithione zinc is added in the polyurethane reaction mixture to provide antimicrobial property to the polyurethane backing.
Claims16
An artificial turf comprising:
- a carrier;
- an artificial turf fiber incorporated into the carrier such that a first portion of the artificial turf fiber protrudes to a back side of the carrier, a second portion of the artificial turf fiber protrudes to a front side of the carrier, and a third portion of the artificial turf fiber is inside the carrier;
- and
- a polyurethane backing formed on the back side of the carrier, characterized in that the polyurethane backing includes a biocide agent.
The artificial turf of claim 14, wherein the chelating agent is selected from the group consisting of (1,2-diaminoethane)-initiated polyol, (2-aminoethyl ethanolamine)-initiated polyol, or (N,N-Bis(3-aminopropyl)methylamine)-initiated polyol, wherein preferably these polyols are propoxylated or ethoxylated or more preferably the polyols are both propoxylated and ethoxylated.
A method for manufacturing an artificial turf, the process comprising:
- preparing a viscous polyurethane reaction mixture,
- incorporating artificial turf fiber into a carrier;
- and
- adding the viscous polyurethane reaction mixture on a back side of the carrier to form a polyurethane backing, and
- hardening the viscous polyurethane reaction mixture to form polyurethane backing on the back side of the carrier,
- wherein the method is characterized in that the polyurethane reaction mixture includes a biocide agent.
