Abstract
Administration of a monoclonal Ab (mAb) that specifically targets IL-1α is useful to treating articular and extra-articular symptoms of arthritis.

A method of treating joint inflammation caused by arthritis in a human subject, the method comprising the step of administering to the human subject a pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and an anti-IL-1α antibody that binds human IL1α with the Ka of at least 1×109 M−1 to at a dosage of 0.2 to 20 mg/kg body weight, wherein the human subject has reduced joint inflammation associated with the arthritis after the treatment.
