A method for the preparation of RTA 408 or a salt thereof, wherein RTA 408 has the chemical formula:
- comprising:
- (a) obtaining Compound 3 or a salt thereof, wherein Compound 3 has the chemical formula:
- and
- (b) reacting Compound 3 or a salt thereof with 2,2-difluoropropanoic acid in a first reaction mixture to form RTA 408 or a salt thereof.
