A metal-1-(2-hydroxyphenylazo)-2-naphthol (H2AZD) complex. its synthesis, and its use for treating microbial infections in a patient.

A method of making a metal-1-(2-hydroxyphenylazo)-2-naphthol (metal-H2AZD) complex the method comprising:
- adding a solution of a salt of the metal in water to ethanol containing a 1-(2-hydroxyphenylazo)-2-naphthol (H2AZD) ligand while heating to obtain a mixture;
- heating the mixture with constant stirring to a temperature of about 80° C. to about 90° C. and maintaining the temperature for about 15 hours;
- filtering the mixture to obtain a yielded compound;
- and
- drying, washing, and recrystallizing the yielded compound to obtain the metal-1-(2-hydroxyphenylazo)-2-naphthol (metal-H2AZD) complex;
- wherein the yielded compound is the metal-1-(2-hydroxyphenylazo)-2-naphthol (metal-H2AZD) complex.
