A compound comprising at least one monoanionic bidentate ligand LA represented by Formula I or a tautomer thereof;
- wherein the ligand LA is coordinated to a metal M;
- wherein M is optionally coordinated to other ligands;
- M is selected from the group consisting of Ir and Pt;
- X represents O, S, Se, CR5R6, SiR5R6, C═O, BR7, or NR7;
- Z represents CRZ or N;
- R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, and RZ are each independently hydrogen or a substituent selected from the group consisting of deuterium, halogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, heteroalkyl, heterocycloalkyl, arylalkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, amino, silyl, alkenyl, cyano, cycloalkenyl, heteroalkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, heteroaryl, acyl, carboxylic acid, ether, ester, nitro, nitrile, isonitrile, sulfanyl, sulfinyl, sulfonyl, phosphino, and combinations thereof;
- and
- provided that at least one of R1, R2, R3, and R4 does not represent hydrogen;
- any two adjacent R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, and RZ may optionally join to form a ring, which is optionally further substituted;
- and
- any R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, and RZ is optionally linked to one or more additional ligands to form a tetradentate or hexadentate structure.
An organic light emitting device (OLED) comprising:
- an anode;
- a cathode;
- and
- an organic layer disposed between the anode and the cathode, wherein the organic layer compound comprises at least one monoanionic bidentate ligand LA represented by Formula I or a tautomer thereof;
- wherein the ligand LA is coordinated to a metal M;
- wherein M is optionally coordinated to other ligands;
- M is selected from the group consisting of Ir and Pt;
- X represents O, S, Se, CR5R6, SiR5R6, C═O, BR7, or NR7;
- Z represents CRZ or N;
- R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, and RZ are each independently hydrogen or a substituent selected from the group consisting of deuterium, halogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, heteroalkyl, heterocycloalkyl, arylalkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, amino, silyl, alkenyl, cyano, cycloalkenyl, heteroalkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, heteroaryl, acyl, carboxylic acid, ether, ester, nitro, nitrile, isonitrile, sulfanyl, sulfinyl, sulfonyl, phosphino, and combinations thereof;
- and
- provided that at least one of R1, R2, R3, and R4 does not represent hydrogen;
- any two adjacent R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, and RZ may optionally join to form a ring, which is optionally further substituted;
- and
- any R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, and RZ optionally links to one or more additional ligands to form a tetradentate or hexadentate structure.
The OLED of claim 23, wherein the compound is a sensitizer, and the OLED further comprises an acceptor selected from the group consisting of a fluorescent emitter, a delayed fluorescence emitter, and combination thereof.
A consumer product comprising an organic light-emitting device (OLED) comprising:
- an anode;
- a cathode;
- and
- an organic layer disposed between the anode and the cathode, wherein the organic layer comprises a compound comprising at least one monoanionic bidentate ligand LA represented by Formula I or a tautomer thereof;
- wherein the ligand LA is coordinated to a metal M;
- wherein M is optionally coordinated to other ligands;
- M is selected from the group consisting of Ir and Pt;
- X represents O, S, Se, CR5R6, SiR5R6, C═O, BR7, or NR7;
- Z represents CRZ or N;
