Abstract
A portable video and imaging system includes a camera for capturing video of an event, and a video recording device for recording the captured video of the event. The camera is housed in a first housing, the recording device is housed in a second housing, and the first and second housings are physically separate. Various embodiments provide for the system to be mounted to a user's body, an article of clothing, such as a shirt or a hat, to a vehicle, or to an ancillary component carried by the user, such as a firearm.
Claims20
A portable imaging system, comprising:
- a camera configured to capture video data;
- a mounting arm configured to couple to the camera and comprising a first coupling device and a second coupling device,
- wherein the first coupling device is configured to couple to an article of clothing of a user,
- wherein the second coupling device is configured to couple to a mount disposed in a vehicle;
- and
- at least one processor configured to:
- receive the video data from the camera;
- store the video data in a temporary storage;
- receive an indication of a triggering event;
- upon receiving the indication, store the video data in a permanent storage;
- and
- store real-time video data from the camera in the permanent storage with metadata indicative of the triggering event.
A portable imaging system, comprising:
- a camera configured to capture video data;
- a recording component configured to store the video data;
- a mounting arm configured to couple to the camera and comprising a first coupling device and a second coupling device,
- wherein the first coupling device is configured to couple to an article of clothing of a user,
- wherein the second coupling device is configured to couple to a mount disposed in a vehicle;
- and
- at least one processor configured to:
- receive the video data from the camera;
- store the video data in a temporary storage;
- receive an indication of a triggering event;
- upon receiving the indication, store the video data in a permanent storage;
- and
- store real-time video data from the camera in the permanent storage with metadata indicative of the triggering event.
A method of capturing video data by a portable imaging system, the method comprising:
- receiving the video data from a camera,
- wherein the camera is configured to couple to a mounting arm and the mounting arm is configured to couple to an article of clothing;
- storing the video data in a temporary storage of a portable recording device,
- wherein the portable recording device is configured to couple to the article of the clothing;
- detecting a triggering event by at least one sensor, and in response, storing the video data in a permanent storage;
- and
- storing real-time video data from the camera in the permanent storage.
